Common Questions from our Guests
Q. What time is check in?
A. Arrivals for camping can check in between 12 and 8pm. There is no late arrivals area. Please contact us as soon as possible if you are unavoidably delayed and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Q. What time is Check out?
A. Check out is by 11am. Late checkouts can be arranged in advance so long as we are not fully booked.
Q. Do you have electric hook up?
A. All our pitches are suitable for tents only and there is no ehu.
Q. Can I park next to my tent pitch?
A. We ask that once you have unloaded your vehicle at your chosen pitch, it is moved to the hard standing car park next to the camping area. Camping is on one of our rugby pitches and can damage the grass. During heavy rainfall cars can get stuck and cause further damage.
Q. Can I bring my commercial van instead of my car?
A. Yes.
Q. Can I stay in a motorhome, caravan or van?
A. Unfortunately we are not able to cater for caravans, motorhomes or vans.
Q. Are the toilets and showers open?
A. Yes. We have large changing room facilities with showers that are well ventilated and cleaned regularly. Access to the toilets and showers is by fob with a £5 refundable deposit on return.
Q. Do you need any coins or tokens for the showers?
A. No, our showers are all push button operated.
Q. Do you have a drying room?
A. Unfortunately we do not have the space for a drying room.
Q. Do you have pot washing facilities?
A. Yes, we have a double outdoor sink with hot and cold running water and drinking water.
Q. Do you have rubbish facilities?
A. There is a skip next to the camping area and bins around the club that are emptied regularly. Please dispose of all waste responsibly.
Q. Are dogs allowed?
A. Dogs are not allowed (Guide Dogs are permitted).
Q. Do you have Wi-Fi?
A. Yes, there is free Wi-Fi at the Clubhouse.
Q. Is there a swimming pool on site?
A. The nearest indoor swimming pool is Kendal Leisure Centre (2.6miles away).
Q. Do you have any bike storage?
A. There is a bike rack to the side of the main building that guests are welcome to lock their bikes to.
Q. Are we allowed BBQ’s or open fires?
A. BBQs are allowed if they are raised off the ground on bricks and not burning the grass and disposed of correctly. Open fires are not allowed. (Remember not to use your BBQ inside your tent and only use in a well-ventilated area.).
Q. Can I come camping with a group of friends?
A. We are a family and couples park only therefore single sex groups are not usually allowed. Please email us or give us a call if you are unsure.
Q. Do you have a bar or restaurant?
A. A. We have a kiosk that serves breakfast (including bacon, sausage butties, porridge etc), evening food (pies, chips, burgers etc) as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Our bar is open at limited times, please ask at reception. Our restaurant is currently only available for functions.
Q. Do you have Sky Sports?
A. We have Sky Sports and BT Sport in the bar that show certain games. Please ask at reception to find out what is on.
Q. What dates are we open for camping?
A. We are open from the 1st May 2022 through to 31st August 2022.
Q. Where is the nearest supermarket?
A. Morrisons, Aldi and Sainsburys (0.4miles) are all within a short walk or drive away. Asda is 2.7 miles away. Morrisons and Sainsburys both have petrol stations.
Q. Where is the nearest train station?
A. The nearest train station is Kendal (1.3 miles). This is a branch line to Windermere with links to the main line at Oxenholme.
Q. Is there a bus service?
A. Blackhall Road Bus and Coach Station if 1.6 miles away with bus services through the Lakes.
Q. Can I book a taxi?
A. There are a number of local taxis firms in Kendal.
Q. Where is the nearest Hospital?
A. The nearest Urgent Care is Westmorland General Hospital (2.7 miles). The nearest A&E are Royal Lancaster Infirmary (21.1 miles). Not sure where to go, contact 111 or 999 in an emergency. A defibrillator is fixed to the wall on the 3G side of the main building. Our address is Kendal Rugby Club, Mintbridge, Shap Road, Kendal, LA9 6NY.
